How do some brands make it big on TikTok (when some of them aren't even that big)?

TikTok is the perfect platform to build hype around things like products and events if you do it right.
Hype-building strategies are built on:
- FOMO
- Combining strategies (owned/ads/creators) to make people feel that they're seeing content about that thing all over their feed
- Story first, product second

We did this for Magnum's Festival in Amsterdam by:
- Producing content for their brand channel and sharing it in the lead up to the event
- Running it as dark ads to reach even more people
- And then sharing original in-time / in-the-moment content for their brand channel during the event itself
The key here was not waiting 3 days for approvals.
